Okay I will admit it- one of my favorite blogs- other than my sisters- Tattered & Timeless is the Graphic's Fairy. Is that nice woman not one of the best all around greatest people out there?
I mean she takes time out of her busy life to give us free clip art of all imaginable things. Even if it isn't your type it is all beautiful and so useful.
She hosts Brag Monday to allow us all to show off how we use her gifts.
Here is what I did:
I did a transfer using one of her images and then doing it by using gesso and a copy machine image. It just transfers the ink from the paper to the canvas. It was such fun to do I can't wait to do many more. I can see Christmas ones, spring ones - oh the list just goes wild.

Small bloggy world-- I've been stalking your sister's blog for awhile and then stumbled on yours via The Graphics Fairy. I LOVE your artwork, I've been admiring it on your sis's site. SO glad I found yours.
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, I just used Citrasolv to transfer an image onto my dining room slipcover from a copier copy. It came out nicely but is soooo light. I wish it were darker. I want to do something similar to what you did here, but I wonder if you have a suggestion on how to get the image to be darker? Do I increase the dark in my copy? Also, how did you keep the image from slipping when you brandished? I used pins and pinned the paper on top of the fabric. The first image transfer I tried slipped really bad, and the second one was fine. But I don't know what I did different the second time so, I think I just got lucky.
Thanks for any suggestions you have!
I love this piece of art! GORGEOUS - at first I thought it was a pillow, transferred on burlap (it helps to read the post) instead of just drooling over the photo. This is so beautiful!! Love, Love your blog!

You simply put the gesso over the copy that is on the canvas? How long does it take? Can I paint the canvas first?
ReplyDeleteI love this... I had to experiment so I tried it with a print of a picture from my Laser Printer and it worked beautifully with the laser print too. I have always been intrigued by transfers and this is the most successful way I have found! Thank you for your post. I will be using this in so many ways. My transfer came out almost to perfect.
